I'm having serious problems getting everything done while at home. I don't exactly have an estate or live on a ranch but 1/3 of an acre never looked so big as it does when I get off the road. I've got to rest the first day home, that's a given.
the rest of this home time has been taken up with mowing, pruning trees, pulling weeds and my motorcycle has been laid up for months because my jets are clogged from not riding it! (got it fixed, just in time to park it again)
back on the road monday, and I'll try to be home again in 2 weeks. I only get 1 day for every 7 out (dang werner) that might be part of the problem.
how do you guys cope?
how do you guys keep up with the 'to do list'?

My wife mows the yard and does the flower beds and garden. When I was single found a local kid to mow the yard every 10 days or so.

Well Man It's Just Like Trucking ...do As Many Of The Chores At One Time As Possible. I'm Single And When I Walk In The Door I Have A Routine. First I Set The Mail On The Table, Start The Coffey Pot, Then Take A Leak , On The Way Back Through Start The Washer Going, Sit Down Pay All The Bills That Have Come In. Then Balance The Check Book, By Then The First Load Of Clothes Are Done I Go Put Them In The Dryer And Start Anouther Load. Now If It's Day Time And Summertime I'll Check The Mower Over And Start On The Grass. To Cut The Work Load I Cut The Grass Always Blowing The Clipping Back Onto The Uncut Grass So It Getts Mulched As I Cut It And There Is No Raking. When I Stop To Get Something To Drink I Start Anouther Load Washing And Drying. If Its Winter And The Yard Needs Raking I Pull The Mower Out And Do The Same Thing As In Summer Blowing The Clippings Back Into The Uncut Portions. I Learned This Method At A Funeral Home I Worked At Years Ago, They Had Perpetual Care Cemetary And It Looked As Goo As Most Golf Coarses.
By The Way Put Some Stabil In Your Motorcycles Gas And It Will Help Keep The Thing From Gumming Up. You Can Get It From Any Auto Parts Store. Good Luck. -
1/3 acre? Are you push mowing? It take's me 2 1/2 hour's give or take a little to mow a whole acre plus weedeat. I only have to trim tree's about twice a year. I alway's cut everything about 6 inch's above head height to keep it uniform. However when I cut I use a riding mower. Once I come in for my first break after training, I'm planning on going and buying a new Cub Cadet with the 54" deck to speed up the process. Then again, I'm quik at mowing grass with anything because it's what I do for a living now and have been doing it for some year's now.
Yea buddy. Everything does look "weird" to the eye when you get in don't it? I think that's what took me the longest to get used to after going on the road with my step dad. It's like getting in your car after being in a truck so long it feel's like your dragging you ### on the ground. lol You'll get it, just take's some time. Just manage your time that way you can get everything done and have time to relax or do what you really wanna do. -
Vicki mows the lawn we have 5 acres so I know the meaning of not enough time.Lost the transmission in the riding mower The pool is green. The 280zx needs a new battery it is my summer car. As does the harley I am restoring. The rx7 has about six inches of dust sitting on it. I still have christmas decoration all over the garge floor. The gutters where blown down by the storm last week. You just do the best you can do.Their will never be enough time.Overwhelmed is a way of life now.

Yard work is not in my job description here at the house. Wife is the flower person, Kids are the mowers/weedwhackers. (not to mention the cleaners of the dogs' favorite corner)
At the moment, I do laundry, and odds and ends around the house - nothing earth shattering.
The fixit hierarchy is: Youngest son (13). Mom. Me. Somebody who knows what he's doing. Fortunately, all of us are.. at least moderately competent at this stuff, and we have yet to pay a professional twice for the same kind of job. If a plumber is in, we all pay close attention to how he does what he does... and so on.
Wife works on the cars, too (oil, plugs, etc - including replacing electronic fuel pumps and the like).
So - why am I telling you all this? to make you jealous! Ha! I have it made in the shade. -
lmao! Yea. It's great having a woman around who know's that stuff ain't it? Mine own's and run's a bar at night and is a mechanic by day. Shop she also own's. Very successful woman at her young age and she's only slightly younger than me. Doesn't mean I'm gonna let her do everything though because it's not her responsibility. Beside's she work's to #### hard as well as taking care of her daughter so she deserve's the help and any break I can give her.
Yall have to watch a plumber?

did I mention I live in florida? the trees grow like weeds here

yeah I've got a push mower, it doesn't take too long to do. got alot of weeds to pull, the jeep cherokee has a dead battery (brand new battery to boot), need to weed whack, got to fire up all the systems in the lance camper and run them for a while, the exterior of the house needs a pressure wash, the truck needs a bath, the motorcyce is VERY dirty.
the list goes on
at least this time the bike is now running and will be treated with seafoam ( guys I ride with rave about it ) it's a quality stabilizer they usually use to put up boat motors for the winter.
thanks for the ideas guys, I'll try to budget my time a lil' better. (like getting off my butt right now and do something) -
