How do you handle trailer damage done by the shipper?

If I’m not there to count the stuff on, I’m not signing for it. Trailer damages are another issue. I’d be most worried about signing for something that didn’t go on the truck. Three guesses where the money to pay that claim is going to come from. Your ship, you’re the Captain. As far as loading goes, after you count it, they should put it where and how YOU want it. You’re the one with the responsibility for it. If they don’t want you there they’re trying to hide something that you’ll end up paying for in the end. Myself, I’d tell them to #### off and go find another load. Lots out there.

The thing is now a lot of places especially after covid hit will not let you on the dock. I get where you're coming from. I always put SLC by their sig

I have a lot of respect for good forklift operator's.
