How do you keep your battery from going dead with refrigerator running?

for what?

i have them installed on a lot of my trucks, love them. they are for starting but it doesn't mean much when deplete your house batteries because you won't turn off the fridge.

 

So you can start the truck and charge up the house batteries. yes it's hard on the alternator and batteries but the OP doesn't seem to be worried about that.

 

Yeah you can but you will fry those batteries very quickly.

Do what I do. Get an ice chest.

 

They put a brand new fridge in truck 2. He's had no issues. But has an APU that will start and charge the batteries as well.

 

I suggested bags of ice, as the compressor won’t kick on until they’ve melted, but I also try to buy just enough food for the time I expect to be out on the road. It’s no hassle to grab the few things left when I get back to the yard, and either put them in the break room fridge or take them home.

 

I have food for a good week. Big ice chest, 4 days max, then gotta resupply.

 

I’ve been thinking another option to have a fridge in the truck and not risk damaging the batteries is to buy a mini freezer, an inverter, and an ice box. You will be freezing bottles of water or (blue) ice packs while driving. On every 10 hr break, you turn off the freezer, and move the frozen ice packs to the ice box.

 

Dometic makes some of the best fridges. Low power consumption and even has a auto shut off for low voltage.

It’s very efficient.
