If I stop every two hours to make a 15 min restroom stop, this could add up to 2 hrs a day in wasted "on-duty" time. Would it be legal to log it as "off-duty"?
How do you log a 15 min restroom stop?

This is what I do: I don't log those. I don't log my real time anyways, I log the miles and just avg the miles by 64mph, round it off, and log that. I'll log a small break somewhere halfway through my day, or I just add it into my fuel stop, or if it's in the last half of my day, I just end up getting to where I'm stopping before I actually got there. Then I only have to take a 9 hour break. It's like having the ability to alter the very fabric of time itself.....hehehe
Oh and btw - breaks are not considered on duty, anyways...the only things you really need to be logging on duty are pre trip, load/unload, drop/hook, fuel, and DOT inspections. Maybe I'm forgetting one or two, but yeah, breaks shouldn't be logged on duty, if it's a break, you're off duty.truckingbizness Thanks this. -
If you really want to log it just draw a line straight down from driving and state milemarker ### on whatever road youre on and write "rest area stop" but i dont waste my time with it.

I just log 15 minutes off duty.

Well...
1. Ya don't have to log off duty... just hang it out the window and let fly as yer rollin' down the road, line 3!
2. Save it all up for one big blast at the end of the day, and log line 1.
3. Combine it with a pretrip inspection on line 4, and "P" on company time!
4. Wet your bed... line 2.

I don't log it if I'm stopped under 7.5 minutes. I log off duty unless I mess with equipment during that time I.e. taping or fixing placards or glad hand leak.

If your not deducting 15 min off duty, every time your truck stops your throwing away hours every week, It is to your advantage to go off duty as often as possible. If I stop the truI also include a 15 minute off duty.
As far as mileage I depends what state Im in as to what I use as a multiplier. 55 mph state I use 49, 80 mph I use 74, and so on.
But if you think your gaining something by combining safety check and fuel to the same 15 minutes again your giving away hours. It is to your advantage to show minmum time in lines 3 and 4. Save your 70.
But if your running only 2500 per week it really dont matter you have hours to burn anyway. -
