I'm one of those drivers that never went to a school. I went to the DMV and got the book, read up on it, went and took the test, passed and applied for a job. I didn't say anything about government requirements.

No, it's not the only way. Another more easier way is to take your ending mileage and subtract your starting mileage from it. You can lie on your logs and/or get your math wrong. The odometer doesn't lie. If you get pulled on a level 1 and there's a discrepancy between your odometer and your logs, you've just been caught red handed.

I personally double check my own logs , but I was meaning .. in the big picture,, there are a few ways that I know of , but everybody is different , only thing that matters is that everything "jives" at the end of the day/month/etc.

Agreed. I tend to think auditors would pay more attention to your odometer than they would the actual logbook. If you remember the D=RT formula taught in school, it's much easier to get a picture of what you're doing from just looking at your starting and ending mileage.

Actually it was in FL and GA and those drivers never had a problem and are still driving . The negligent hiring and negligent training is at the starter companies . It's intentional to keep a turnover of low paid misfits . Aptitude tests are available that are effective in reducing turnover .

CDL mills and starter companies should be required to give these tests to applicants .

She was basing it on my times from when I left Denver, unbeknownst to me, every state can check the other states prepass pretty easily, even when it isn't a "joint" scale like Sheridan is. My drive from Denver to Belgrade was almost straight thru, and matched to within 6 minutes (including logging a meal stop in Casper) of what promiles said it would. From that basis, she was able to determine my average speed and knew that I wasn't in a slow truck. She also knew what time I cleared Sheridan NB and based on my log, when I hit Belgrade. When she mentioned it to me, initially I didn't cop to it, but then I recalled that Sheridan had a "hardon" for us because two of my coworkers got nailed by them about a month earlier on a falsified log books, 3 days worth of scribbles, rewrites, and oops. One got parked for 10 hours, the other for 14 hours (10 + what he was off by), they both got citations as well, one was fired when he got back, he was under a hot outbound container, and lied about having the hours to make the run, load missed the train, and we got docked $500 on the load. When I initially played dumb, she started fishing, and recalling the above, I decided to avoid being shark food.
