Are dispatchers really that lazy or just that overwhelmed? Is there a shortage of them...if not seems like they could be replaced easy

Some and I mean some DP are like diapers" full of crap and need to changed out" I have had good ones as well as bad ones and the bad outnumbers the good. It seems to be a constant problem with consignees as well as shippers giving drivers a bunch of crap. If it happens to much I report it and 9 out of 10 time they get fired or tranfered !! Which makes my job better. I drove for one place where the DP was the best freind of the owner. After several disscusions as too what he was doing wrong, the owner said 'I 'll talk to him" That never happened. And in one week I was picked up by another company.

What I'm saying is its hit and miss with these idiots, you find your good ones and then you have the crap.I just smile at them when they start there crap because I know I'll be out of there soon.

That's what he's been doing. He left that company & is now with another that is doing him good. Its ridiculous when these drivers are being sent on a wild goose chase to go here & there to pick up trailers that aren't anywhere to be found once you get there or have already been picked up. Then by the time you get there & find all this out, the DP is conveniently gone home for the day. Gone home to his nice house & nice shower & nice bed for some rest while the truckers stuck on the side of the road waiting till the morning for someone come in & get their head out of their ###. No shower, no dinner, no nice rest in bed & DIDN'T GET for any of that! And THAT is why I have an "attitude" about it.

Depending on the company size they can have up to 50 trucks, plus supervisors, fleet managers and planners breathing down their necks to get freight moving. Most have never worked in trucking let alone even been in a truck. No clue on actually how big the country they have lived in their whole life is,only what they see on a map.

Most do not understand how terrain can affect a 80k tractor trailer, they think we all drive the family car,you can go top speed all the time.

The hubbies dispatcher where he is is pretty good, she has her spells once in a while and I am always telling him she most likely had a bad day or someone raising cain with her and not to worry and get mad when she gets #####y. He tries to make sure the communication is there with ETA, PTA hours, etc. It gets to be a madhouse sometimes and she is not always there so you have to deal with others who might not be as experienced or caring. She was a truck driver so she knows the ins and outs; even though like someone else stated there are others over the top of her who have demands jumping on her head. He has dealt with some of the other dispatchers, one that he won't deal with if he calls with him to swap a load, if they try to run a fast one over him, he has a long memory.

At his other trucking job he also had a great lady who had been with the company several years. Experience makes a differance I am afraid just like all jobs.

I hope he does better with the new company, there must be hope out their somewhere.

If some one sends me out on a" wild goose chase" it's no big deal. I like most drivers get paid by the mile so who cares if a loads already been picked up? When that happens use it to your advantage BUT use it wisely! If ya call and start screaming about stupid dumb *&% dispatch.. well think about it. If you were sitting at that desk knowing you Fd up 2 drivers and one's screaming and telling how stupid you are and the other say's it's alright everyone makes mistakes now what are we going to do about it? Who would you give that nice juicy coast-coast run to?
As far as no shower/dinner ect thats no excuse! Every T/S I've been to has showers , don't have a shower credit? Ask around I've given out plenty. I always have food in the truck, does your hubby ?

As far as attitude goes, what do you expect? Go back and read what you've written here with an open mind. You will see that everything is someone else's fault!
I will go and read your other posts, but I doubt I will change my mind.

Well I was going to back and read your posts but now ... naw! I really don't know why I'm bothering to respond to this insulting rant. My first thought was along the line of "what you think you got gold tween your legs?" But I won't go there.
You see some of us DO have a good working relationship with our coworkers cause we know we're all ONE TEAM! We can't get the job done without managment and they can't get it done without us! Why the us vs. them?
