When I think I’ve seen it all lol. So I park my truck along the curb, walk up the driveway and I have my set of keys about to open the front door of the new construction house when I hear this loud sound. I turn around and look and this guy with the pickup truck manages to hit my parked truck with his wood chipper chute that he either forget to tie down or it came loose and did damage all along the box of the truck and the mirror. Then he gets all pissed off when he realizes I am calling the police to have a report done lol.

It’s our companies newest truck. 2018 Kenworth with only 4,000 miles. I guess no one has to worry about getting the first scratch on it anymore lol

Exactly. I’m thinking a dash cam might be a wise investment. I’m not sure the dash camera would’ve caught the driver if I happened to be inside the house and the guy took off. Doesn’t the camera run off the cigarette lighter and shuts off immediately whenever the truck turns off?

Other drivers don’t seem to like when u have to call authorities lol. It’s happened to me when the other driver thought it was minor. Companies require a police report. It’s not a choice.

I got a hard wiring kit for my dash cam and wired it to an unused auxiliary toggle switch. This switch didnt have power with the key off so I discontected the factory wiring to it and rewired it to get power from the CB radio power supply, which has power all the time.

With this setup I can have my dash cam on or off when ever I want, even if thr truck is off. And it only takes about 5 mins to return it to completely factory original... I never cut any wires, just disconnected the factory power to the auxiliary switch.

Nah, you'll just have some footage of somebody tearing your truck up but they're gone scott free and you basically have nothing. I had this happen before many years ago when I was a company driver it was all caught on video when they tore up my parked truck while I was in the tuckstop. Nobody saw nothing. Couldn't clearly see the name on the other truck's door or the tag. They drove off into the sunset as if nothing ever happened. Cops said sorry we can't help you.
