Do they go back a long time or only limit to 3 - 5 years? Plus now I am a little worried, if I am in good shape now but had to go to the ER a year ago for something that was not my fault and a one time thing (doctor gave me wrong medicine, long story), will they count that against me and decline my medical card? Because I may have reached a critical time in my life where I NEED to make more money now or get kicked out onto the street.

A few months ago I was eligible to lower my health insurance but was declined due to that event. I tried to explain to them what happened and they wanted me to pay for more doctor tests so I just told them to forget it since I am sure after jumping through hoops they would still decline. I hope the DOT will not do the same regarding my ability to work.

You know that for a fact correct? Because 10 years ago I was 21 and still eating junk without realizing the impact it would have on my body as I got older. All of those trips to the hospital made me open my eyes and eat healthy now. I bet my medical history looks bad. So will I get declined or just a shorter med card expiration if I pass all of the tests when I go in within the next few days? I may take a run around my neighborhood now to get in better shape just to make sure.

Oh I'm sorry you said physical , in that case as long as you don't tell them then your fine. I told them I had high blood pressure back in 2005 and they kept it on my record! "!" It was only one time and for a week at that ! So whatever you tell them it will stay with you your whole career.

That's my experience with them because when you go for your physical. They ask you to fill out a questionaire form asking you about you're medical history.

Yeah I am going to tell them I have high blood pressure and that I control it with meds. I guess I can add to the story... last year my stupid girlfriend caught the flu from her younger brother, came to my house, coughed all over me and made me really sick two days later.

I haven't been sick like that in 15 years. So I went to the doctor but the main doctor wasn't in, only one of the practitioners. She knew I had hbp, but she gave me these huge horsepills that people with hbp shouldn't take. I took the pills, then an hour later my heart was beating out of control so I had to go to the ER and they tested me for everything and said that I was in good shape so the pills caused my heart to do that.

They gave me a shock and everything was OK. However now that is on my medical record and it looks like I nearly died or something. It wasn't a big deal as the doctors were calm and said they handle things like that all of the time. I haven't had a problem before or after that one time event.

Thanks, I basically provided the details in the post above yours. You may not have read it yet. Basically the doctor gave me pills that were bad for me that caused me to react that way. However it is on the medical report as atrial fibrillation.
