How far down do you take your steer tires ?

    Last time I replaced steers while at the tire shop, Mr. Flip Flop offered me 200 a piece. He put them on his trailer.

    Yeah I’d probably run them up to 175k and call it money well spent. I went 200k one time but regret it looking back. Unnecessary risk. That’s ALOT of freaking miles and these roads are terrible out here.

    At what age you guys consider tires too old to use. I am pretty anal about my personal vehicle and boat trailer tires , but their light duty.

    My sister bought a 6 year old 45 foot motor coach with 35000 miles on it.

    She put some new Michelin steers on it.

    She is looking at putting 6 new Michelin 305/70R22.5 XRV LRL on the drives but their getting hard to find.

    They want $850 apiece for those. Are those that pricey? Are they Overkill for the application.

    Rv weighs 44000.

    5 yrs seems to be the limit. I learned this when I bought a couple Buick’s down in Florida, 11 yrs ago. Tires looked new, ended up with 3 of 8 broken belts, and ofcourse dry rot. Low mileage cars. Also trade in for recaps, usually have a 5 yr new requirement. Check Amazon, I saw some 6 tire package set deals on there. Also Walmart sometimes, has deals. Pick up locally in a few days.

    Yep, believe it when you see it.Walmart. They’ve got big truck tires too. Deals aren’t that great. But 22.5 trailer tires are pretty cheap. Depends, it’s hit and miss. I couldn’t believe all the stuff you can order through Walmart.
