How far in application process?

Usually means they have completed background check and work history.

 

What company are you applying to? Some companies it could mean little as..

You have filled in all the blanks, and when you get here we will investigate what you told us..(mostly starter co)

The better companies will investigate before your arrival.. Thereby not wasting your time or there's..

I applied at a few including Prime and Swift. I did not choose either, chose another company, I will be going through a company cdl course followed by employment with them (that path). I do know that Prime had contacted my previous employer and I also know that Swift had my driver record pulled. Both may have done more, I do not know. All three companies offered me to go through their school at that point. I do know my employment record is good, my drivers record is near perfect with the exception of two small tickets 20 some years ago when i was 16. I have no criminal history. The company i went with sent me through the physical and I received my 2 year DOT card...they paid for that so I'm assuming that they did their background check before investing in the medical physical. I will be getting my Michigan cdl permit the end of this week and plan to start my cdl training the end of this month. I already had my enhanced drivers license so that should remain with me. I talked with the company and they do want me to get a TWIC but I can do that after I start driving and the company will help me with that pathway as they do it with their employees that they want to have it.

and btw..TMC (the marine company) is one of the better companies..if you were offered a seat, I'm sure they checked you out..

I have heard its tough once you get there.. DON'T step on the grass! It grows by the inch and dies by the foot..and they will tell you that! Good luck

 

id say theyve checked everything they need to in order to offer you a job. they wouldnt normally pay for you to go there only to say "sorry we couldnt get an answer back about...". a company MIGHT bring you out there and then say "oh we found out ...and that disqualifies you", but if as you say you have good work history and driving record (and no criminal history?) then in your shoes id feel pretty darn safe. as long as you dont pop positive for drugs or alcohol.

yea good luck. I finally called to check on my appliation and they told me they decined me because they chose a more qualified driver and wouldnt give me a reason. what a crock of crap. how the heck is another student driver more qualified then me my last job was alittle short it was 7 months the reason i left i went directly to cdl school the job before that i had for 2 years. and the job before that i had for 5 years . i was a mechanic the whole time and no gaps between jobs and i left on good terms with everyone of them and i had 1 perventable wreck 2 years ago and the recuriter said that was no problem and besides that my record is clean. i dont know but im sure its a sign to not bother. that recuriter made it sound great but when they wont tell you what went wrong in the app and/or ask questions screw them. there are alot better companys out there. sorry for the rant lol
