When I was working the oil fields of North Dakota I had a 30 second commute from the house to the truck parked outside. Now that I'm stuck in Pennsylvania I got a 20 minute commute for 80% less money.

Yeah, I've gotten accustomed to it somewhat. An hour or so is on the train, so in the morning I usually sleep while in the evening I read.

I grew up in Philly. What side of the Keystone you're in?

I made it 30 days without putting gas in. Not sure if that's bad or good. .8 miles to work and .8 home. 13 gallon tank. For that month I only drove to work and back. That's 24 miles. ####ty fuel mileage for a cobalt. I think what did it is the warm ups.

Now it's 11 miles..Takes me 15 easy minutes in the morning and as much as 25-30 in the afternoon.. I worked a job that was 40 miles each way- up & down 95 from south Philly to northeast Philly and back… It was horrible..

I left that job after 6 months because of the commute.. Job wasn't terrible but that commute was too much 6-7 days per week.. Add in the philly taxes and bridge fees and it only made sense to bail

Just a quick update guys, things is going good so far at the new ltl company. Is just somedays i get an overwhelming because of the long hours i have to put on and the transition process of 3 years OTR to peddlin' freight is like is something im tryin to get used to. But other than that no complaints so far other than the 56 mile commute everyday.

When I first started my first CDL job it was a 75 mile commute each way. Then a different route opened up only 22 miles from my house, more hours, so I took that. I did that for almost three years, now I'm in a job that is about .7 miles away from my house. I could walk it in 15 minutes if my bike wouldn't start. I don't remember the last time I put gas in the 4 gallon tank on my bike.
