It's only as good as your instructor or trainer is.

Mine was great and yes I would do it over again.

I didn't go threw primes training. But from what I saw of it, I think its great. I haven't seen any other company train you on the road while your doing the job. Instead of in a parking lot with 20-30 other people learning backing and such, your out there on runs one on one with a trainer, learning by doing. I think it is by far the best training I have seen in the industry.

if you search these threads you will see a lot of folks like myself discuss it. Most think it is great. In a nutshell if you come to prime to get your CDL you will spend approx 4 weeks on the road driving everyday. The main focus is to get you to be able to drive and pass your skills test. You are introduced to time management and trip planning but at that point is is not your main focus learning to drive and back is.

When you enter into the training phase it is more of a mentor ship thing. YOu fine tune your skills and learn the way to manage the clock, trip, fuel, life on the road. It used to be much longer like 50K miles. It is now shorter. At the end of my 30K I thought about going solo but chose to stay out another 15K and it gave me greater confidence. Do I know all I need to know? absolutly not and we all should learn every day but now it is time to learn with out someone holding my hand.

WOuld I do it again? Yes But like U2 said I had a great instructor and a solid mentor. My instructor calls me every few days to see if I have any questions.

I went through the entire program, wouldn't trade it for another program. If I had to go back through I would, but I rather like having my own truck...

My instructor and I have been able to really focus on my training and getting a game plan together that will eventually benefit us both. It's a fantastic arrangement in that I'm not sharing an antiquated truck with anyone else and I'll be able to get A LOT more time behind the wheel to hone my skills.

Now I started to go to a private driving school. But now I'm glad I did this instead. A one year commitment ain't jack. I'll be MUCH more confident when I get my own truck doing it this way!

I think the program is great learned a lot in a short amount of time plus I had a great instructor(on the reefer side anyway) but an instructor/trainer can make or break the situation we all hope for good instructors/trainers though would I do it again....probably not good experience but I love having the truck to myself

The trainer I had this past summer was a good guy,but not much of a trainer, he was in it for the money thats what he told me. I had to figure out all most everything on my own. The one good thing was that he bought just about every meal for me.
