Very good post and all should take note... This is how they search the internet for information and get it.. Taking a few minutes to educate yourselves about this threat could save you $1000's later..

I'm glad ya'll enjoyed this post. It is something most folks don't think about when entering a Url in the address bar. If you miss type it, you could be there next victim. Ebay is probably the biggest one that gets phished besides Amazon. I used to get emails about my ebay account all the time. I just report those links to ebay. Most companies want to know about these bad Urls and have security teams to address things like this. So if you get these, do everyone a favor and report the Url to that company.

Another thing to note is; Never Ever give any personal information on a website without it being a secure connection.
I have seen some of these trucking companies accepting applications on there website without it being a secure connection( DON'T DO IT). On your checking account or even ebay. Make sure you have a lock displaying by your address bar. It shows your using SSL and its being encrpyted when sent over the internet. Otherwise what happens is, someone somewhere in the world can be opening or its called sniffing(checking) theses packets on the network and see the information in these packets.

Some people have all the time in the world and don't do nothing but grabbing peoples info. I'm not trying to fear monger anyone, cause if that was the case. I would have stopped using the internet a long time ago. I just want you to be aware how they can get your information.:biggrin_2558:

I managed to go the distance. But rejected 2 valid sites. No hits on a fake.

What dweeb uses caps in a legite biz sub directory? And I don't have an account at that bank...so duh.

The other was a massive wildcard generation. Has server side security improved this much? That wildcards are now mainstream in big business?

I had one last week that made me think. It was https://www the name of my bank .com. It looked right, so I called my bank right away and found out that they don't send emails. Like with paypal it's https://www.paypal.com now that's there site, so how are we supposed to know which is a real site and which is not. One thing I do know is, never click on a link in the email and never give up personal info. I also don't keep personal info on the computer, I use pen and paper for that.
