Looking at a 2001 9400 with detroit 12.7, but having spent its life as a mid-west regional truck it doesn't have an engine brake. How big of a hassle is it to retrofit?

Hi double yellow, I'm no expert, but I believe it's a big deal. Could run into the thousands, seeing what the prices are these days, with labor. I had an old Western Star that had a BC Cummins w/o a Jake, and looked into it as well, but the cost exceeded the worth, not that many big hills in the mid-west. Plenty of trucks out there, might want to pass. Good luck.

Looks like a new Pacbrake kit runs ~$1,900 in parts. Saw some used Jake Brakes for ~$1,000 but none looked to be a full kit.
