It seems like they have it made nowadays. No I didn't watch any of the YouTube channels.

If I saved 20k and got the truck and trailer on a business loan, would that be enough? Is there a book you'd recommend that's written by an owner operator or hotshotter that will tell me everything I need to know?

Competition is very aggressive. Doubt you'll get much help from other hotshotters.

Try this company though for steady work:
    Bennett Motor Express
    Bennett Motor Express
Earn big without the rig with high-paying truck driving opportunities in Bennett’s DriveAway Pickup division! If you have a pickup truck that’s 3/4 ton or greater that can handle one unit at a time OR up to three-unit combinations with our haul-and-tow vehicles, you can be your own boss while getting paid to see this great country.

All too often they are in debt up to their eyeballs, and just praying to make enough that the repo people don't come knocking.
If you don't pay off your credit cards every month, and have 6 months of living expenses money sitting in your savings account, then i don't consider them doing well.

Would it be better to get a loan a class 8 truck and then lease on to a company? Would 20k in savings be good?

frankly i cannot think of any book written, on ANY subject known to mankind, that'll tell anyone EVERYTHING they need to know.
reading a book, going to school or seminars are only a starting point, or foundation on which to build from. and then too, buying any book, only makes the author more money, and you with that much less.

means nothing. have you even asked, oh say about 24 of those owners, how much in debt they are in, with all that shiny new equipment?

i;ll tell you something that was said on another website years ago....when it comes to the questions on "how much money do i need", and how much can i make"...???

well you'll need about 2 million dollars, to make back 1 million

best you can do is to NEVER ASSUME anyone "has it made"............

it's called WORK, saving those pennies, and sacrificing A LOT, till you......."have it made".
