I think that its a choice you will have to make for yourself. And, yes many companies will hire 18 year olds to drive class B or smaller. Try the local newpaper, beverage distribution, food vendors, trash collection. The options are nearly endless. Its mostly about what effort your willing to put in, to get the job and prove that you want to keep it.

Thanks man I appreciate your help. I'll definitely work my ### off to prove that I am a good worker and worthwhile.

Please expand on that. What is making it so bad?

So that others may benefit from your experience.

Off topic. Topic is finding local work and home daily. Rookie just confirmed that his time at Swift (OTR, not local, not home daily) was a mistake. Stick to topic.

I know a guy that works for Swift locally out of Chicago, he gets a flat rate of $168/day while he gets exploited until his 14 runs out. He's home every day and does have saturday and sunday off, but that pay for those hours is ridiculous. He would probably make more money being the manager of a Dunkin Donuts, at least there he would get the boston cream kind for free.

I got my CDL with central refrigerated in March. I came off the road in September for a local beverage delivery job. I make $16 an hour and average between 60 and 65 hours per week. That's 1100$ plus per week. After 90 days I get free health insurance.

I wasn't even out on the road a full year and found a local gig. Home EVERY night and off weekends. It's possible.
