I have rolled both and honestly the money is about the same and its worth it to roll solo in my opinion. as a solo driver you are only one responsible. When you have a teammate you have to have a lot of trust that they will not run you off a cliff. You also can stop where you want when you want. You will have a few weeks with your trainer and that will give you an idea.

Old Dominion is paying something like .68 cents per mile for teams. That company would be my first choice. Most good team companies will team you if you simply tell them you want to run teams.
Several reefer companies run coast-to-coast teams. Benny Whitehead Trucking runs lots of refrigerated freight Florida/West Coast turnarounds.
US Express
Covenant
Southern Refrigerated Transport
Tyson Foods

Miatiawanna,
How are you?
I am not a truck driver. I hope to eventually go to a truck driving school to learn how to drive a truck. I also hope to drive OTR SOLO to all 48 states and Canada.
As you very well know, driving a truck is a very stressful job that requires an enormous amount of self responsibility and self discipline.
For the most part, having a team driver would only aggravate things when you have deadlines to meet and hours of service to abide by. All too often, personality clashes will jeopardize your ability to do things the way they are supposed to be done. Having a team driver inside the truck with you can also be quite dangerous if you are NOT totally sure of his or her past.
I have personally witnessed a situation, some years back, in which a pair of "team" drivers were more like boss and employee. The "boss" literally barked orders at and commanded the "employee" to do whatever he was told to do. The "employee" of this so called "team" would have been much better off being SOLO.
There is enough stress as it is trying to be the best driver that you can be. Don't complicate it any further by taking on a "team" driver.
You can do it on your own! Go SOLO after you are done training with a trainer!
Good luck to you!Last edited: Sep 5, 2014

Look for good hygiene, look out for super truckers and anyone with a domineering personality. Even the slightest character flaw is going to get amplified 24/7.
Having said that i have been teaming with the same guy for over a year and a half with not one argument, you might not get a chance with some companies to interview a perspective partner.Miatiawanna Thanks this. -

I know of a company where teams can make over 100k. Decent trucks and easy work. I need a partner and its based in Iowa. I live in Wisconsin. But its 11 days out and 3 home. I am not worried about the home time. Just making money.
