Sorry to hear about your mother, prayers for a successful recovery. Try JFW in Commerce City, they've had ads on CL a few times this year and the ads mention they will train in end dump hauling. Also Iron Woman Construction has had an ad on CL and mention they are willing to train in side, end and belly dump but require two years driving exp.---don't let that stop you, the company was founded by an Native American lady who fought her way into the biz! I think their website is:

Thanks for your help and thoughts, everyone.

My main attraction to dump trucks is that they're heavy, so I'd have to stay very sharp with my driving. The other stuff, like reading a site and steep deliveries, I didn't consider. No benefits? Really? How can a company keep employees with a job as dangerous as that is, sans benefits?

I have an application in with Sysco/Sygma/U.S. Foods. Maybe I will hear back next week. I hear those jobs need you to lift 70+ lbs. I haven't looked at any dairy or bread jobs. I'll look around today, though. I also put an application in with Coors, but they contract a lot of their supply driving out through Swift and GTI.

I don't have any trouble with a little physical work. I'd be a lot happier with a company that uses pallet jacks or donkeys, but I'll take what I can get. I used to have current certificate to run forklifts, too. Should I renew it?

I don't know if this type of work would interest you, the fleet fueling companies hire alot---the work isn't hard but is smelly and dirty. The drivers fuel construction equipment, local fleets and some of them go into the oilfields and fuel up the drilling rigs. Western Fleet Services, Equipment Savers are two companies that come to mind at the moment.

I'd never thought of that. I do have my tanker and hazmat. I'll see if they have anything open. Thanks!

Criminey, I'm not trying to bug you or anything but did you see the ad on CL today under transportation ,the company is looking for Class B test truck drivers. The company is from MI(named MDE) and tests trucks mostly for International and the shop is in Commerce City south of the Walmart. Rousch( of NASCAR fame) also brings trucks to CO for high altitude testing and their shop is in Henderson.

They usually add that on there as a fail safe. I worked at a miller-coors distributer for a couple years and the only thing we had to lift by hand that weighed over 70lbs were full kegs. Most workers find "cheats" when having to deal with that weight. However, most companies that require that will actually make you lift at least 100lbs when you take your physical.

Have you applied at any local tanker gigs? They usually pay very well, and have awesome schedules.

Each case of canned goods weighs 60 lbs. the blocks of cheese and coke syrup for the fountain drinks are 50 lbs each. Stack the stuff on a hand truck half full and you're looking at 300 lbs. You may be required to go up or down a flight of stairs to some basement that was turned into a restaurant. It's more than a little physical work. No pallet jack. You're running groceries down an aluminum ramp on a hand truck that's loaded twice your body weight. And you're running all day.

Look on youtube for dump trucks flipping over. Happens all the time. Gravity doesn't so much suck, but the center of gravity does! :biggrin_25523: Then ask yourself if its worth the bread crumbs it pays.

POSITIVELY RENEW your certificates to run forklifts. Some company forklift operators earn EXCELLENT money running forklifts at various loading docks and warehouses.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!
