I think that 15 over ticket will stop you from getting a job, the way I see it you have 3 options:
1. Start calling recruiters and if you find a few that say no problem, you can trust them and go to school and hope they actually hire you
2. Hire a lawyer and see if you can get it off your record or dropped below 15 over
3. Wait until that 15 over ticket falls off your record
All you driving record is going to show is that you consistently speed and getting a BIG ticket doesn't slow you down, thats NOT what you want them to think about you.
Now as for companies, I Drive for Watkins Shepard, we have 3 terminals I believe in WA, they are a VERY good company but they DO NOT send you out with a trainer like ALL other companies do.....you go to school, then to a 10 day orientation, then you go out SOLO. So when your in school look at how you do if you are picking stuff up quickly and once you get it your GOOD at it then Watkins Shepard might be for you, there is no 24 hour dispatch here to hold your hand all day like at swift, Werner, etc....
And as someone else said look at MAY Trucking as well I know a few drivers that have been there for Years.
Good Luck!

Update- I spoke to May, Swift, and Watkins/Shepard (I'll talk to more- those were just the ones I had time for)
May: No good. I think in part because I live near Seattle but they didn't like my record
Swift: OK. Their reqiurements are no more than 1 in last 12 months and 3 last 5 years.
Watkins/Shepard: OK. nice lady- said I had some "boo-boos" but took the time to talk to me, said the schools I"m looking at are approved, etc. The starting pay is a little low (.25cpm) but it gets up to .31cph at one year.
So, I guess it's not as grim as I (and some others) had thought. -
Shadow, I know you'd rather get going sooner rather than later, but let me share this little nugget of info with you..... Reconsider going the community college route. You'll get more detailed information and training. Plus, you'll get time in the truck and you'll have time to think about whether or not this is something you truly want to do. The reality of it is, you're out there long hours, away from home, and being a single man with no kids, you're likely to be out for several weeks or months at a time. I'm not trying to sway your decision, but it's something that requires a lot of thought and consideration. Good luck in whatever choice you make!

Thanks for the input CarolinaCatJack. I would gladly do the CC route except that would mean I would be out of work for 5 or 6 months. During that time, I would still be paying my expenses but would have no income. I'm not sure I can afford to do that. I have a couple weeks to think it thru so I'll see how things shape up.
CarolinaCatJack Thanks this. -
I apologize then. I had no clue.... But, 5-6 months?! Is that how long the course is? If so, then WOW.... I went to a local technical community college and it was only 10 weeks. Holy crap that's a long time.... -
I wold be happy with a 10 week course but from what I'm seeing, the comm college course in my area are 2 quarters which is about 10 weeks/qtr. I saw one post where a guy said the course at a CC was 18 weeks with the first 10 weeks in class. That would probably drive me crazy. But, if time wasn't an issue, I'd probably do it just to feel comfortable.
Overall, I'm a pretty independent guy. I could see where being out by yourself could get tirinig after awhile but I can keep myself amused by reading, surfing the internet, watching a movie, etc. Maybe even get in a little driving while I'm at it.
It looks like Watkins Shepard is a good company from the way people speak of them. I'm happy that the recuiter is OK with my driving record. If I feel comfortable during class with the training, I'll definately consider them. If I'm struggling or uncomfortable, then maybe not since they only have a 10 day 'training' period/evaluation.
My big fear in life right now is shelling out the cash for the program only to be told at the end of it "sorry, but we all changed our minds." If that happens, I'm not sure what I'd do. -
Maybe wait till spring ????????
