Been working on a home business, while the wife makes the ends meet. How important is job history for employers in the trucking industry? Is there anyway to get the foot in the door with a blank spot on my work history?

I had asked a similar question at one of the schools I have been considering. I was told that if you have tax returns for the years in question, supporting your claims of running your own business, that should suffice.

Maybe Pigzilla can clarify... I was under the impression he was asking about his general job history, as opposed
to his specific driving history... i.e., having a job with Employer A from 1998-2003 (verifiable from his supervisor
or their HR dept), then running his own business from 2003-2007 (not really as verifiable, as there is no employer,
supervisor, HR dept.)... in which case his tax returns with Schedule C would verify him having run his own business
    during those years.

No "driving" history and /or schooling....NO job. Plain and simple. Unless you can start your own company, with your own trucks.

Since Pigzilla is listed as a wannabe, I would assume that he was referring to what he's been doing before he decided to go to trucking school. That being the case, the tax forms previously mentioned will suffice.

Wannabes and newbies don't have a driving job history. Most employers will want a 10 year history, however.

When I returned to Swift two of my prior jobs could not be verified. I provided final pay check for one company and a copy of my 1099 for the other. They wanted proof of my times of unemployment either unemployment check or a statement from someone who knew me during that time (friend, pastor) .If you have any proof of earnings from your home business that would help.
