Hello, I couldn't find any answers about my particular question. When I searched I got a bunch of topics about comfortable beds to use. I was wondering how its like sleeping in a parked truck? Does it feel the same as sleeping in your car but you are laying down? Do other trucks wake you up, because those truck stops are loud so I assume ear plugs are necessary.
How is it like sleeping in your truck?

Actually you would be surprised with the noise, usually when I'm in the sleeper I will not hear any other trucks unless a driver opens or closes a door right next to me. And also you have your engine, tv, computer, radio, etc also drowning out other noises.

You've got a twin bed in the sleeper trucks, the noise just takes a little getting used to. It's nothing at all like sleeping in a car.

I slept really well in my truck.
I invested in a tempurpedic foam mattress pad, pillow top mattress cover, quality sheets, comforter and down pillows.
The key thing is to be choosy as to where you park. Avoid parking next to reefers or trucks that run loud APUs. I would try to find a spot between two quiet neighbors. In the event I had a noisy neighbor I would usually move to a different spot and if there were no other spots I'd resort to running a fan or idling my truck to drown out his noise.
All in all I slept extremely well about 99% of the time. When I switched to local it took about a month until I slept as well at home as I did in my truck.Ranger70 Thanks this. -
It takes a little getting used to. Eventually you know the sounds that are your truck and what is in the next parking spot. White noise (fan radio etc) helps.

Driving solo, I got the best sleep.
The soft massage with the engines idle.
Ac blowing cold air.
Music playing good ol country hits.
But with teams, always slept with 1 eye open. Never got good rest.
Worried I would go to sleep and wake up in a ditch or even worst. -
Biggest thing I couldnt stand is when you get a #### p.o.s truck beside you that releases air every 5 ##### seconds. Gets hella annoying, I cannot tell you how many times i've had to move my truck to get away from the noise. I always find the farthest corner away from the truck stop and just because I knew that the lazy truckers always go to the front first and that would be the last places to fill up if at all depending on what part of the country you're in. All in all its pretty decent sleep except for the occassional loud annoying truck.
BigBadBill Thanks this. -
I've noticed freightliners are the ones building up air more often than not. Don't know why they do that. I think that spitter noise is much more annoying than a refer.

You get to the point that the truck, reefer, APU sounds help put you to sleep. I hauled reefer containers for years. Want to talk about loud. The generator was at the back of the trailer but you could hear it from other side of lot.
Just stay away from the bull haulers. -
At first I had trouble sleeping well. Probably took only a few weeks or so and I started getting used to it. Depending on the truck it may insulated well enough to keep a good bit of the noise out.
