It's usually like watching, or in this case, listening to piranha swarm an injured animal when that typically happens.

You'll get drivers that'll talk to you. They get lonely and just like female companion. For the most part they're harmless and will go out of their way to help a pretty female. My dog tiny is the conversation piece whether at the fuel isle or rest area.Someone will walk up to me and pet my dog then him and I strike up a conversation.I drove over the road solo for like 9 yrs and never had any problems.Always take your brakes in a well lite place. You'll do fine out there.

It's OK to be nervous....I'm sure most guys were too when they started.

Just don't let it control you. Take reasonable precautions, and all will be fine. Good luck!

I don't blame you for not wanting to use a radio. I don't even like using one unless I have to, and when I do use it, it's more often, "(insert company name here), YOU'RE GONNA GET SOMEONE KILLED THAT WAY, YOU DUMB ############!", and it ends up being pointless, because of course theirs isn't on, either.
Good situational awareness can go a long ways. You'll learn about the various truck stops, rest areas, etc. Just try to plan out your day before you start driving for the day. "Okay... I have XX hours left, I can drive XXX miles in that time, I'll put a conservative number of miles to account for the possibility of traffic jams, backups, being slowed by terrain or whatever.. oh, there's a truck stop at this exit, which is close to where I'm aiming to stop at for the day, and I know it has a good reputation and a large lot to park in"... stuff like that.
So, that being said, and since I want to get some food before I start my work shift, here's wishing you the best out there.

The first couple months its only natural to be nervous.I was,not being alone but going to big cities and Canada. Now if I was to go back OTR it would be a piece a cake. One day all the new stuff you'll learn will be second nature.
