I read through this thread with great interest since I'll be taking my CDL license driving test later this week.
I have a couple of interviews tentatively lined up w/ terminal managers so I'm curious does this road test usually come during that initial interview or at some point later? Should I be prepared to go out driving during the first meeting w/ the terminal manager so they'll have an idea if they can use me or want to continue the hiring process?Lepton1 and BigDog Trucker Thank this. -
I’ve only interviewed with one company (who I’ve worked for for a year now), and they have rookies like me work with trainers for 2-5 weeks before the official test drive. For which I was deeply appreciative, as I was pretty green and definitely needed the practice time!
I imagine that any job after this I’ll be tested up front, if they bother road testing experienced drivers. -
Show up w/ the right attitude! Check!SmallPackage and BigDog Trucker Thank this. -

I dont know if it's different terminal to terminal, but I've done my interview with Superior already and haven't done a road test. From what I was told, the road test is done the same day as the medical/drug test. They want me to do the testing closer to when they'll actually be able to get me in a truck with a trainer.

I will share one thing with Chemo. Depending on what they hang on that IV stand (Red Devil comes to mind, you will know it instantly on sight.) it has the ability to hurt you inside chemo day.
When I took wife to chemo short version her rages were about as bad as a human being poisoned could express at me driving her on the freeway. One incident finally pushed me over the top and I pulled over to explode at her to essentially ####. Because I could not drive anymore and still 20 miles to go.
She cried.
Let me tell you, I spent that week paying her back for that explosion. Its probably primordial deep inside when someone is pushed over the limit in some way. You either crack or explode.
Chemo for us was something we will never do again. Ever. Because of that. We would rather have a month without the raging than 9 months of that. And thats the way it's going to be.
We are going on 15 years now. So.. the docs in chemo did something right. AND.. JUST MAYBE a little anger mixed in as well.SmallPackage and Lepton1 Thank this. -

No set date yet since it looks like freight is slow. Best estimate I've been told is end of this month/beginning of next month. Training is 30 days on the road, including 5 days at the Greer terminal for orientation. I think they allow the trainer to have a little discretion on whether they feel comfortable releasing you a little early or if they feel you need a few extra days.

Btw, if you haven't been keeping up w/ this other thread, the latest rumor is that Superior may be merging w/ Henniff:
