I lived in Pensacola, FL for awhile. They have a terminal there and I never met a happy driver. I didn't ask detailed questions because I didn't care really.

    TruckDuo and rabbiporkchop Thank this.

I even helped a May driver clean his truck out in Quartzsite Arizona one time due to that very reason.
The guy purchased winter wipers with his own money because the company was too cheap to provide them and when he went back to the terminal they confiscated the winter wipers and put the cheap company issue wipers back on and they failed to reimburse him for the wiper blades that the driver purchased with his own money and they threw those wiper blades in the trash.

It's too bad to hear this about May. I drove for them from 02-04 and they were awesome! A ton of miles, great equipment and pleasant dispatchers too. Only reason I'm not considering them again is because I don't live in their hiring area anymore.

    TruckDuo Thanks this.

Company culture can change in just a few years; people retire, attrition, family members take over, etc. Maybe in 10 or 15 years it does another 180 and is a great company again; after some family members quit or retire and a gradual change of office personnel and shop personnel.
I worked for one company that was pretty good, then a change in shop personnel, and morale with the drivers plummeted. One dispatcher was awful and caused problems then had a stroke and had to retire and the company improved tremendously just because he was gone. A year or so later, out of compassion, the company let him return and he was worse than before; like "It's payback time, drivers." Then drivers started quitting in droves just because of him.
So, we just never know when a company is going to be good or terrible.

    What does that mean???

You're not going to pay to go to one of those trucker schools are you?

There are companies that will train for free or very little money.
