How is North Dakota right now for those actually working up there?

Benefits are disappearing even at the big companies, or you have to pay $700-900 a month if you have a family

Service companies are still offering bennies and the pay rate is on the upswing again. If you already have a CDL you are several steps ahead of most. Midland/Odessa would be a helluva lot better than ND IMO(working in sub zero conditions SUCKS).........100 hr weeks are the norm and most are now offering 2 weeks on 1 week off schedules(or similar variations) with housing provided while on.
    Halliburton......FTSI.........BJ Services..........C&J Energy.......Slumbergerger(sp).............your gonna need a strong back.

Again, I have no experience or knowledge really of the oil field environment. I do have a strong back and I am not afraid of work, but what is the context of the need for a strong back in this situation?

Pretty sure FTSI and Halliburton will hire you and get your CDL for you,but like anything else your gonna have to sign a contract to hang around for a certain period of time.......strong back because in the patch and working for a service company driving a truck is 10% of the job.........swinging a sledgehammer will occupy the rest.

Got my pay stub , made $88,120 in 2017 in North Dakota since jan 9th, not the best, but the 1st month or two I was back up here I wasn’t making much, at home I could be making about 70 , it costs me roughly 1000 per month to be up here, so I figure I made About $500 more per month up here vs home.
Not a big margin, but I have great medical benefits , fully vested 401k and a week off with the family every month, and they come up with me every other month and we see cool stuff on the road trip up or back home.
Still though, everyday I ask myself. At least 5 times of its really worth being up here. Gotta stay positive
