I think you are probably correct. Every company will have different customers in different parts of the country, strong in some regions and weak in others. If I were in your shoes I'd look at who seems to have a strong presence in your home area. Pay attention to which trucking companies have vans in the local warehouses and factories, or which companies are in the truck stops.
I'm based in the LA area, which is a shipping hot bed. My experience is very different than yours, because I run mostly west of I-55. As I've gained experience with the company it seems I get longer runs whether I'm running solo or training with a team, so I do get coast to coast. However, home time never seems to be a huge issue as far as getting freight that get's me right back to the home terminal. I am flexible about when I get home.
How late for home time are you?

Thats what I like about my company. TMC fleet managers route us with the assumption that the driver is going home each weekend. So they make it a point to get us within a days drive by Friday's delivery. If I want to stay out longer, all I have to do is a send him a message or call him and tell him I want to stay out longer. He will make it happen.

For truck drivers living in Wichita KS, which OTR companies would be best for home time?
1) Highway 54 - running east and west
2) Interstate 35 - running north and southLast edited: Sep 27, 2014

I couldve swore they were based out of Sidney Ohio. Unless there is another Continental Express, funny though, you base your opinion off of one bad company. So you must group everyone/thing in the same manner?truckerguru1 Thanks this. -

I will also never work for Eastern European Chicago based companies, for the same reasons.... And I'll bet nobody disagrees with that right? There you go.
