If It takes me 15 minutes to check slacks on a trailer I spent 10 minutes eating a sandwich. All it takes is a quick tug to see if the brakes are in adjustment.

BINGO!
You are required to log your pre/post trips as on duty, not driving. When the requirement came out, everyone was on a paper log, and the standards increment was 15 minutes, so everyone logged 15 minutes on duty before and after their driving shift as if that was their Pre- or Post- trip time whether it took them 5 minutes or 50 minutes. -
Logging 30+ minutes a day for pre/post trip by the end of the week u would have given 3+ hours of your 70 just to pre trips. Thats valuable time that cant be made up...and could be the different between doing a 34 reset 100 miles from the house or at home drinking beerOxbow, nredfor88, 48Packard and 1 other person Thank this.

But it's legal. Saying it takes 15 minutes to get a post trip done. Isn't legit.D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

I log ten for a pretrip, five for a post per what my governing body wants me to do. And given I don’t work as hard as I used to (by choice), I seldom if ever worry about my time.
Short Fuse EOD and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
So your really Barry Allen?

I was always between 10 to 15 minutes. That was the actual time needed by me. Never had an issue from safety or DOT inspections. On the odd occasion when I was needing every minute to deliver, I’d roll at about 5 minutes, although that was rare.

Oh, sure. We’re practically twins.
