So I've completed 3 days with a trainer so far learning Coca Cola's Bulk delivery system..

Never knew this was going to be so complicated.. Not only is the handheld overly complicated, but each store has it's own receiving procedures, so that makes it confusing when your trying to learn...

And why are recivers the most rude and unattractive people in the store??

Now I understand why some guys go back to OTR coming from beverage...

Not complaining because I'm very fortunate to have this position so early in my career...

I use to work for Coca-Cola and it took me at least 1 month to feel comfortable lol but I was doing small stores/gas stations so I had to stock the product. Would go in at 5 am and come back around 5pm and get home close to 6pm. After a few months I decided it wasn't for me so I decided to go back to otr, so right now I am teaming, pulling doubles and home every week.

Most receiving people have no "people skills" so they keep them in the back away from general population.

What's causing you problems? Just ask the receiver how they prefer to do it. It's a lot of products to scan and until you learn them all they'll actually be better at it than you.
Plus every receiver does things a little different.

The handheld is very easy. It does everything for you. Like anything, there's a learning curve but you should be getting pretty comfortable with it by now

It's difficult work. But you knew that BEFORE going in. Right? Stick with it...you never know what you're really capable of unless you conquer those tough challenges.

I used to work receiving at a Walmart and I'm far from ugly. It's just that we were taught that vendors are the lowest form of human life and company policy required us to treat you as such.

I loved the ASN system that we had for Coke, Nabisco, etc. One bar code per pallet and unless we had to verify, receiving took a few minutes.

Within a few weeks you will have it basically down. Maybe even quicker if you are doing the sames stores all the time.

When I worked for DR pepper I had 5 different walmarts on my route. 4 of them were decent and I could be out of there and down the road in under 15 minutes. One sucked. I knew every time I rolled in there I was going to be there for at least an hour and a half for two or three pallets of product. I got to the point that I would go work the back stock while I waited for them to finish screwing around with checking me in...mostly so I didn't snap and kill them.

That being said though bulk is still way better even with crappy back room staff than a side bay run full of tight convenience stores with cranky or idiotic managers that dont care about your time, especially when its pouring rain.

A lady I knew in San Diego tried to steer me into a beverage company so I could become a go home at night driver and possibly build a future with her. She made it tempting but the horror stories I've heard like the ones here made me tell her " So long, babe"
