How long did you stick with your First Company?

I was at Swift for about 8 months in late 2003 til 2004. I was 24, job was good, pay was great for what bills I had at the time, but I wanted to be at home and party. I ended up going to college.

 

I worked for a company called JBA for three years starting back in 1988. Left just before they took us off hourly pay and put us on percentage. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't work for free for any company.

OTR team/training 1/2 year
Local drvr@ terminal 1year.

Left them to go back out on the road(local driving was "driving" me crazy.

I got 2 different stories about why I was term'd. One person says it was because of my accident in NYC, someone else (the person who I talked to on the phone at corporate that day) said it was because my idling % was above 14%.

I actually miss it. Between the several dedicated accounts they asked me to help out on (Walmart twice, Dollar General and .. shoot I forgot the name of the other one. It was hauling magazines and catalogs to bulk mail centers to be mailed out by USPS, and all the terminals I got to see were really cool. Oh plus I got to meet my driver manager and my nice dispatcher (who I impressed when I asked if his last name was Norwegian...and I was right!)
