3 1/2 weeks. One week studying for the learner's permit and 2 1/2 weeks in the 'yard.' I have already failed the road test once and am taking it again on Oct. 25th. 3 1/2 weeks is NOT enough time for a CDL A.

I was given a break on the Classroom studies. In my School if You can get the required DMV paperwork (the learners permit) and the HazMat endorsement for the permit It will save You money and time.
I found that in reality my only problem was just doing all of the shifting, particularly progressive shifting properly. In any School You are given a certain number of hours per week to practice the technique of Driving a CDL vehicle and naturally the more hours the better. I had a Good weekend Class in that the instruction were usually given in groups of 2 to 4 to one teacher. We all went out for at least a half hour per day and the goal with our studies was consistency per Month. We had no limits on the Months for the Weekend class.
The thing that mattered the Most in my Truck School was the GPA or how many times It would take You to pass a DMV test. I think It does'nt matter at all if You are there for a lot of Months. There were some people who would go through a permit and then start on another one. The main thing is to be able to do the shifting, turning and the Yard skills consistently and to do them very well.
It also was helpfull to anyone in my School to be willing to learn a lot of different types of vehicles like the Passenger rating and the Forklifts. If someone had a lot of endorsements I would think that the School probably gave them a higher GPA since It would take longer to get all of these things together on a Weekend Class.
It has taken me, a slower learner, 10 Months to get my CDL-A+P with all of the possible endorsements: X, N and T with the Hazmat. I also learned how to get the T.W.I.C. card and why It was necessary to get a Passport for CDL practicality. -
