And if we are used to a single turbo Cat 625 hp. Should we get a 14L Detroit or 12.7? I'm leaning 14. Cat has been excellent but I want some mpg. How much more for 18 speed vs. 13? Not real impressed with Fitzgerald; don't really answer your questions and if do very vague. Just want you to send $5000 and sign here Yada Yada. Couldn't I order chassis from local dealer and get kit from Kustom Truck? Really not quite ready (like to usually have 50% down) but could swing it as I think the lights are going to come on at the party really quick.
How long do we have to order a glider

Any dealer can order a glider. Peterbilt in Sioux Falls has been turning out some nice ones. If you want a Freightliner I've heard good things about Harrison in Iowa. They've been building some with Cats and N-14's lately.

Right now, you have until 2021 before gliders need to be compliant. And, even then, you could do a frame-up restoration without having to go emissions engine.

A dealer will always be more expensive than a dedicated builder, as they will charge their labor rate for everything they touch.
Still think a monkey with a set of play-skool plastic tools could do a better job than fitz.

Sounds like there's going to be a market for rebuilding pre-emission trucks soon.

There already is. I'd prefer that to a glider.

Jerry Hoover in Ohio builds a #### fine glider. Real craftsmanship and pride in what they turn out. Some local dealers do a GREAT job...........others.......ehh....depends entirely on the quality of mechanics they employ. Having said that; my local KW dealer (Green Mountain KW) has done some really nice ones.
