Just want to get an idea of how long other drivers stay out before going to the house... and are you OTR or regional ?

Myself, at least 6 weeks before going back home. The only exception was just after the holidays, I had emergency surgery in January to remove my appendix. and I am OTR

I'd always stay out 6-7 weeks. About the 6th week you know you need a break. Then about the 4th day off I was ready to go back out.

I've tried all different combinations. The more you go home the smaller the checks.

OTR and finisher, based in Florida. Usually the week going home or coming out is a soft one so I stay out at least 6-7 weeks. If i go home more often it would mean more soft weeks. Also, being a finisher, it can take 10 days to get to the student and another 10 to get them dropped off plus 3 to 4 weeks for training time...it adds up. The good news is, 7 to 8 day breaks. One day I just crash, the last day is pretty laid back too, but the 5 or 6 in the middle are pretty good quality time.

I seriously wanna know how you bits make money spending all that time at home. I stay out a minimum of 4 full pay periods. But I get guaranteed miles since I'm on a dedicated account, in order to get my guaranteed miles I have to be available 6 days of the week.

I work 12 hours and then go home, its much simpler if the work is local.
