to me, that is NOT the way to run. i would always max out my driving hours and get as close as possible to either the shipper or receiver. this way, when i am close, i can take my (then 8 hour break) and have plenty of hours to not only finish up my run to the shipper or receiver, but to have hours to get to my next destination. i do not "see" how any dispatcher will allow a driver NOT TO drive his/her full 11 hours. you are wasting time (in my opinion), by sitting around in a truck stop. back in "my day" we would call guys like that either lazy or a "truck stop trucker", and these would be the very same guys that would gripe about NOT making enough money each week.

yes, do as you wish ( tech10171968 or Hamsterrock74) but your job NEEDS to be done efficiently. so what you take a restart at a God forsaken place. its better to have to do that then have dispatch crawl all up inside your arse for NOT maximizing your driving hours. and if you do things RIGHT, you'll get back hours the next day anyways.

you are welcome. as i did say, do as you wish. but by keeping the wheels rolling, your dispatcher should stay off your case. if you ever were (for example) complain you do not have hours to run, you WILL BE questioned about this. do not forget, they will have a pretty good idea on your hours to begin with, especially if you have to send it in by Qualcomm. or of course, they could also have electronic logs.

i just always found it best to be as close as possible to the customer. suppose (like tech says) he only drivers 8.75 hours daily, and now he's about 2.75 hours away from the customer.........now on his way to the customer, he's stuck in traffic. all because he decided to stop driving after 8.75 hours..........when INSTEAD, he could have gotten closer, and avoided that traffic problem...........

its all in the way one wants to maximize his/her driving times..........and to me, his isn't very good.

    >>> how long do you straight drive without stopping?

Like Kansas said I figure I'll go 3hrs or until my bladder says NOW!...When I fly, the one reason I know I'll never run out of fuel is my bladder will never outlast a fuel tank!
