To the OP. Well, sometimes we just have to learn the hard way. At least you will know not to make the same mistake in the future. It sucks getting fired, but I'd be interested to know if there might be a bit more to it than just this one incident. I don't see how the guy can claim property damage if the driveway was not concrete or asphalt, and if you didn't hit anything. Be interesting to know what his conversation with your company really was.
In any case, it's time to put it behind you, learn from it, and get on with life.shriner75 and trucker_101 Thank this. -
Enough name calling. Let leave that for the CB!

They ain't no sense in personal attacks. He simply made a bad judgement call and got caught. Many new drivers don't know about asphalt design and construction.
Having worked in the paving industry before, many private drives, banks, churches, etc. just have a couple inches of asphalt. It can't handle a truck. Trucks need at least 6 inches of binder. It's nothing but a little blanket on some of these car only lots. One Uturn can rip and tear one up. The base can give away and leave ruts.
Something like that can be an instant $10,000 repair bill for a simple mistake not knowing. That's worth $4 in fuel to go further to turn around.
A garbage company doesn't subscribe to DAC. You simply made a live and learn mistake. Some one else will hire you.shriner75, trucker_101 and Ezrider_48501 Thank this.
