    2) The only endorsements allowed on a CLP are the following:
    (i) Passenger (P);
    (ii) School bus (S); and
    (iii) Tank vehicle (N).

    Some states will allow you to test and have the background check done while you hold a CLP, but not apply the endorsement until the CDL is acquired. I saw a post a week or two ago where a state erroneously applied a H endorsement to a CLP, or at least the poster said it did.

    Yeah, it doesn't appear that TX is one of those states from I'm being told thus far. Which brings me back to my original question, how long does it take to process the hazmat endorsement and will that hold up actually getting a job?

    I just got mine this year. I was really surprised that it only took them a week!

    TWIC won't even take 2 weeks to get. Got my fingerprinting done Friday, found out this morning that I passed the background check and to expect my card in the mail. HazMat is about the same, they said

    I got my tank/haz endorsement when I got my cdl.The way it was done for me was I took and passed the road test first then the school gave a document saying i did. Then I had to go to sos to take all the writtens to get the license
    and endorsements. I got the background check done when I had my clp. So it was just line up the tests and pass them for me. The temporary license had the endorsements on it

    I’ve known some to be as short as seven days and one that was close to 40 days. I don’t think you should expect a concrete answer. As far as companies go, some want you to have it when you are hired, others have varying time limits on when you have to have it. Again no concrete absolute answer.

    Mine took 5 days. Did TWIC/HM background on a Thursday. Got the letter on Tuesday. Took the HM test at DMV while holding my permit. When I got my CDL I already had TWIC in hand and all endorsements appeared on the hard copy of my license.

    I would check to see if your permit qualifies for the cdl portion. Call the TSA/TWIC agency.

    I went and got fingerprinted.... waited, it took about 2 weeks. Then went and tested for my permit and also tested for all my endorsements. I passed everything first time. Still haven't gone to school yet.... but I have all my endorsements.
