Although I was not born in Texas, I have held a Texas CDL for over twenty years. Originally, I had my HazMat endorsement since I had my CDL. But later on, dropped my HazMat endorsement because I did not need it.(mistake). So earlier in 2014, I went to the DMV in Garland and picked up my Tankers and Doubles endorsement. No problem. However, to get my Hazmat endorsement, the young lady required an original or certified copy of my birth certificate. Now if you were born in Texas, they most likely have your birth certificate on their computers. But if you weren't born in Texas, you may have to have your original birth certificate or a certified copy. That is what happened to me, anyway. You might call the Texas DMV to make sure.
How long does it take to get Haz-Mat endorsement in TX?

I forgot about that. The DMV did accept passports. I didn't have one of those either.

Just renewed my hazmat in Texas. Got to take the written test first. Pay the endorsement after you pass, take the form they get you and set up your fingerprinting appointment. Get fingerprinted, about 2 weeks later you get the approval letter (unless you are a terrorist) and 2 weeks later you get license in mail. Bring your birth certificate
ipogsd Thanks this. -
Thanks everyone for the replies. I could have sworn I replied yesterday, I must have been dreaming of TTR postings, LOL. Good info, it may save me some aggravation, for sure.
