I probably shouldn't hijack this thread but why in the hell would anyone consider working for one of the large carriers? I would love to hear a good reason.
How long does it take to Tarp a Load?

I don't tarp unless I get $500 per tarp and that's final. Bla bla bla bla bla.

As for tall coils, I get a 6' drop lumber tarp and unroll it. Then lay it out ahead of the coil on the deck but still folded laterally. I take it in 6' lengths and fold it back and forth like a Z formation, stacking it close to the coil. Then gather up about 4' feet of the end and toss that over the coil. Go to the rear side of the coil and pull it back over the coil. Then I unfold it laterally.
There may be an easier way but I'm not smart enough to have figured it out yet.
They also make coil fitted tarps.
I don't haul too many tall coils. If I hauled them everyday, I'd want a side kit or conestoga. -
$150 is all they want to pay to tarp 8' machinery loads that take forever to pad, secure, and tarp. 3-4 hours for most of them.
I gave up and just sold my 8' set. They can order a conestoga for $4/mi for all I care. I don't need their nightmare on my trailer! -

That's plenty strong enough to do flatbedding. Also, you're not too short to reach things and not too fat to handicap agility for climbing, crawling, jumping and working fast. I like you already!
A flatbed along with dumbells is a good improvised gym. You can do dips and pullups on the side of the trailer. Stick your feet on the frame beam to increase pullup reps. You can put a strap across the trailer near the back to hold your legs for back extensions or Russian crunches. You can bear hug a tarp while doing squats or use the tarp for bent rows. Go light on the bent row reps. I hurt my back in high school once doing those and if I overdo it. That pain comes back for a couple days where I can hardly bend over to pick up my boots.reddove Thanks this. -
