Grew up on a farm and learned to drive our dumptruck at about 12 or 13 years old. The I went to work for ups in the warehouse when I was 17, did that for two years until a package car bid opened up, did that for 7 years the drove a feeder (tractor trailer) for them for about three years and then went back to a package car because I missed the work and made more money, then I was able to put my pension paperwork across the desk at 37 years old. Now I drive for coca cola.

Started driving trucks and working on them in the 60's,dump and ag. Bought my first truck in 1974,my 69 4070A pictured. Stayed O/O for 42 years, retired in 2016,leased to some great orginizations over the years. Just woke up one morning and said, that's enough. Second pic is my 95 9300 Eagle N-14 500,owned it for 20 years, great truck. Still have all my endorsements, and twic, haz mat,2 year physical, but don't use them. Hate giving them up,would be like a carpenter throwing away his tools.

Six months in is when everything seemed to come together for me along with my backing skills.. It was at that point when I knew I was going to make it in this business..

Had to have a permit for 3 months before you can test. Next available appointment was November. Had it ever since. Started out hauling cattle, gravel and hay for the guy that mentored me. 2005 went to work pulling smoothbore chemical tankers. 2009, oilfield. Went back to the company I learned smoothbores with and working for them in the oilfield. I love the oilfield!

I wouldn't have it any other way. I prefer tankers. They aren't effected by heavy wind much.... From time to time we do get those heavy winds. They are a little shorter so they are easier to get around town with, but no so short they become difficult to back up with.... I would say 48-50 feet, I'm also in a day cab which makes backing easier.

On the downside they are top heavy so you MUST use good judgement in corners. I have been doing this two years. I have seen my fair share of other drivers both at our company and other haulers rolling rolling these things and they all show one thing in common. Going too fast around corners.

Got my CDL in May of 96 at the ripe age of 19. Drove for a local guy hauling grain and that turned into learning how to haul cattle. Started loading out of the sale barns and sneaking to NE and CO. Got caught in MN that winter and had to have a guy drive the truck away for me. April of 97 I met a guy through a friend that needed belly dump drivers in Nevada. So I got a job on the provision I would get a NV license so I was legal to drive there. I did that until May of 98. I moved back home and went to work for the guy who gave me my original chance at driving.

September of 2002 found me in Missoula MT working for Pepsi because there was this girl who convinced me that local was way better. I hustled soda pop until August of 2004. I went to work for Cliff Reed pulling a maxi flat in the NW. I did that up until December of 2011 when my divorce was final. January of 2012 I bought my first truck.

I did the owner operator deal running livestock long distance until December of 2016 when I was burnt out on trucking. I sold everything and went back driving for my old boss in Montana. September of 2018 I went to Hawaii. After being there a couple months I got the chance to get on doing something that I’ve wanted to do for a long time. So January of this year I came back to the mainland and bought another truck. I’m currently doing food grade pneumatic work.
