they replaced the bearings, seals, and shoes on 1 side of the trailer. they called and told me to do the shoes i'd be looking at 50ea for shoes and 10ea for labor because it won't take long to change them. With that being said, does 950 sound right? I really don't wanna go back next week if they are shafting me.

OK, so figure it at $360 per wheel X 2=$720 for one side with the brakes included.

Depends on condition. Wheel seels are usually 2hrs each book time and races can add another hour. That is for each wheel end. Now if you are rusty and things need cleaned that adds into it. Also if oil hit your brakes tjat will be another 15 ro 30 min a job. If pins are frozen and need torched out even worse. Working on a truck is time consuming.

Always replace brake shoes. They soak up the oil and can catch fire or crack. Also you cannot wash then off the material soaks up the oil into the linings themselves.

We normally charge 1.5 hours for drives and trailers. But looked up the steer axle today and it gave 1.7 hours. This is doing the seal only. (motors manual) I actually did a steer today that I had to replace the hub. The outer bearing race was cracked in half and where it was cracked you could really see where the roller was eating in to it. I told the guy he was lucky to have made it in the shop.

LOL, usually these posts and arguments get the point the repair is done in 30 seconds and only cost 2 bucks!
-
Not even counting the fact that it has been 6 years since the question was originally asked.
They may be due again?
-
I read the other posts but did not look at the dates. wow. I am sure the OP would pay even more now. LOL

I gave up on giving my opinions on times and costs because it just turns into a perpetual argument.
AModelCat Thanks this.
