Ok, so I know this isn't a science and can vary greatly but after a year of driving I finally got the balls to go down to the DMV to add HAZMAT and my Doubles/Triples endorcements (already had tank) took the tests, passed and then they printed me. They said TSA gets the prints on their end almost immediately after we did them and that some people go through really quick, I've had recent gov't background checks done, have a electronic security license, a concealed gun permit so I have a lot at federal level as far as FBI background check connecting all that same info to my prints, think that helps push it through at all? Plan is once the HME gets added I'm gonna go down and get TWIC and then give my current job the finger and go make real money :biggrin_25523:

My last renewal took less than two weeks from fingerprints to receiving my new license in the mail.

I had pretty much the same situation you describe. Conceal carry, recent bg, etc... None of that really matters because it goes through homeland security. First you'll get a letter of determination from HS probably within 4 weeks, then the state DMV will follow with a letter after that. I was out on the road when mine came in, so I didn't make it to DMV until after the state letter came, but I would imagine you could go to DMV as soon as the first letter gets to you.

Here in CT, 2 to 3 weeks for me first time getting HAZMAT & TWIC cards. That was from getting prints first, pre-reg. on line for both, then HAZMAT added to CDL.

Thanks guys, that's what I figured... complete crapshoot LOL. I hope at least the TWIC will go quick since at that point they'll recycle my (their) background check. Also wished VA let you do the pre-reg thing online for HAZMAT, something tells me that helps get the ball rolling but we have to do it all at once at the DMV but at least I can still do it for TWIC though and theres an office not THAT far from me. You'd THINK living in a state with this much government in it you'd have better access to stuff <- HAH!
