On my first week after being fingerprinted on the 8th of January. Hoping to get it on license before I get to my next birthday this year.

You guys ... it doesn't matter what you have or had. what happens is that they take your finger prints, it goes through a computer program to see if you committed a crime (unsolved) and see if you pop up as a felon then they look at your name/SS number (another computer program) which looks for the same thing and if nothing gets spit out, then you get an automated letter saying they found that you are not a risk and you have their "permission" to get the endorsement. The same thing happens with the TWIC and FAST card, except the latter has an interview involved.

After being off the road for 12 years, I decided to renew everything for my CDL. When the lady at my local Virginia DMV told me it would be 3-4 weeks for my HazMat, I almost laughed. If any terrorist wanted to bomb a city with a 53' trailer, all he needs to do is go to 90% of the unprotected drop yards and snag any trailer of his choice. Total BS.

Why are you waiting for your hazmat before getting a TWIC?

Because when HAZMAT is added they won't need to do another background check for TWIC, just the online pre-enrollment so I was gonna wait since it saved me some money but after further research it will only save me like $25 so I may just do it in anyways. $25 isn't worth weeks of waiting.

I kind of heard the same thing but I did not want to make 2 trips for finger printing so did both at the same time.
Most of the LTL Co.'s ask you to have HAZMAT so it just made sense to get both HAZMAT & TWIC as I also got tanker endorsement.
Wouldn't you know the first job I got I needed all 3 - heating oil truck driver.

It sure is funny how every single time you get certified for anything you have to go through the same old process. You'd think that someone with a security clearance wouldn't have to do it again but nope!

I use to run DOD, have clearance to go to Area 51, yes it's there, but when I decided to get my hazmat back ,I had to get a TSA background check, really! Agree with retiredUSN total BS

I did my hazmat paperwork/prints in Virginia. It was about two weeks from the time I put in for it till I had the endorsement on my CDL.
