Seems as if most have numerous PRE-HIRES while in school.

Yes, you should have a job immediately after graduation. Start the application process as soon as you start school; don't wait until after graduation.

Not long at all.You fill out apps and the next morning you'll get a lot of calls and/or emails. You may even get a call the same day depending the time you fill it out.The recruiter will probably want to fax some forms for u to sign saying she can look up your records. Then in a couple days you'll know if you get pre hired or not.

I was able to get conditional pre-hires before I even started school. They basiclly stated if you graduate, then you are hired.

    Friz Thanks this.

Not everyone has or gets prehires... if you have a decent work history and clean MVR then it should be no problem. ? If yoh have accidents, tickets or suspensions on your MVR. It is gonna be more difficult and many companies will pass over you...
It is important to realize that one can get accepted to CDL with a dirty MVR, or a criminal record or horrible work history.. as long as they can pay for school or get it paid for they are accepted.. even though it is gonna be next to impossible for them to get hired on anywhere..

I am the resident felon. I was on parole. I got hired within 3 days of graduation. I had no pre hires and no company recruiters were interested in me. So, I did the Craigslist approach. I missed the time running with a mega for low pay and had to start out making 45 cents a mile with 2500 miles per week guaranteed. It was rough but times have gotten better.

I am now with a two truck outfit, (we will be three soon if PattyJ would like to work with us), I get a percentage of the net profit to the truck. It works out much better then being paid by the mile. You have to remember that a 1099 job requires you to pay a higher percentage in Social Security Taxes and you must file taxes four times a year.

So, if you haven't been hired with in 3 weeks of graduation, you need to work harder. Jobs are a plenty.
