As far as demand goes. We're hiring. But I think that is due to some leaving as miles drop off, accidents, etc
I've talked with some drivers who say their company has frozen hiring, While others say their company is demanding more experienced drivers, for new hires.
It's a mixed bag right now. But I'm still seeing ads for drivers everywhere. -
May is still looking for drivers.. and my own miles have spiked in the past couple weeks(that's not saying much, what with my limited history)

2500 miles a week here on a dedicated route and that has been steady since I started working for this company a couple of years ago. We haul auto parts for a manufacturer that makes a lot of fuel effecient cars, so I'm thinking I might be in a good position to weather the storm of economic downturn. The parts go to dealerships so they are for older cars and not going to assembly plants for new cars.

The solo driver I spoke to about 2 hours ago said he was averaging around 2500, and I didn't ask his pay. We average 4k a week. 6k if we run hard.
