Nope I don't think that but if you're going to drink and I don't care if it's a couple of beers you shouldn't be behind the wheel of a vehicle. Better yet if you like to drink...to it at home then you won't be out on the road with me. Heck you can be passed out behind the wheel...if the keys are in the ignition it's a DUI.

I know guy who has been called in on 4 times for either one being in bar with his truck or someone seen him crack open his beer and beat his dog and drive off.My husband and i have reported him a few times we could smell it on him.And they know his family had history because his brother was fired for the samething,But because he is a "super" haha truck the keep letting him get away with it.Shoot one of the shipper called the cops on him one morning swear that he came in with a cup and was stumbling around, but some how he got out of it.:biggrin_2551:

Here is what I know about if you have more than 1 DUI. It is not the 3year, or 7year, or even the 10year old DUI question that will get you. My states MVR only goes back 7yrs . But a company is going to ask you. Have you ever had any DUI's, Accidents,Reckless drivng, and Felonys etc... Within a certain amount of time. But, when they ask if you have ever had your License Suspended,or Revoked, they don't give you a time period. And thats when you are pretty-much up turd creek. Your back ground is the killer of your Hopes and Dreams. Your FBI record goes back forever. Everything you've done since you were 18. So trying to lie, not a good idea . Trying to tell the truth, not a good idea. Getting on with a smaller company where you have a friend to help get you on, Priceless !

Let me say this to all the people saying 1 DUI is too many. I half agree with you and I half disagree.
The reason why is, people can change, especially when they are convicted of a DUI(s) right at the legal drinking age. As such, it is a mistake, punishable by law, and yes they deserve the punishment they get, possibly more than what they get actually.
I've seen lawyers get DUI's reduced to nothing in courts when the kids had money to play, so I would not say the legal system is entirely just, or right, but its what it is.

Basically, you saying 1 too many is your own opinion. Like it or not, it is what it is, your opinion. Is 1 DUI too much, well yea I actually do have to agree with you. Is 1 DUI forgiveable? Under the circumstances the person learned their lesson, and NEVER does it again, yes I think society should forgive this person. They learned before it was TOO LATE!

Now, back in high school I had 2 friends racing against each other while drunk, 1 of them crashed into another one of my friends Hanna age 16 I believe, I think her baby sister and her mother were killed in the crash too. 1 guy was charged with a lessor conviction of DUI felony but it was a maximum sentence of it. The guy that actually crashed into Hanna was charged with manslaughter and received the maximum sentence under law which I believe is 25 years here in Mississippi. The guy that got the lessor sentence got out a few years ago...I saw him while I was working, but I did not speak a word to him.
And sure enough, the guy charged with manslaughter is still in prison. Did the drunk drivers in this case deserve what they got? Yes, and, in my opinion they deserved an even stiffer sentence than what they got. Should they be forgiven after a certain allotted time passes by? Perhaps the guy that has already been released, he did not actually kill anyone, but yes he was 100% associated with it and had some cause and effect in the entire tragedy. But maybe one day I could forgive him.
As for the guy who was charged for manslaughter... well, he inadvertently killed 3 people and has to live with that for the rest of his life... maybe he could be forgive one day, thats not for me to say, although I doubt I ever would be able to speak a word to him ever again either. I cannot sympathize with it at all.

Have I ever had any DUI's? Sure have, 2 DUI's back in 2001, got them both within 8 months or so of each other. Am I sorry for what I did, I sure am. I was a stupid kid that had a rotten life, and by that I mean I made my life rotten and I was 1000% responsible for my actions, and guilty as charged. Did I deserve a worse sentence than I received? Obviously I did, or the 2nd DUI would not have happened. Yes, I could have seriously injured someone, or worse... killed someone, or myself. There is no excuse. It's not a simple mistake. It's a very poor poor decision to make drinking and driving...and I did get what I deserved.
Should all the insurance companies in the world crucify me for the rest of my life for my poor poor decisions I made 11 years ago when I was beyond the point of being ready to die, and not caring about anyone or anything... well, I sure hope not, because I sir, will never be drinking another trucking drop of alcohol and getting behind the wheel again. PERIOD. NEVER.

Just as a side note, I have known law officers in my region to drink and drive, on and off duty. I actually have a distant cousin who was a deputy sheriff and did just that..drank and drove...I saw that with my own eyes. I have also seen my dad do it, my stepfather do it, my uncle do it, my grandfather in-law do it, well... they weren't blitzed or anything, but nonetheless they were drinking beer and driving at the same time. People do it, and it's not right. I understand M.A.D. now more than I ever did when I was a child. Maybe thats why I absolutely refuse to ever drink again as well.

Old thread, but 1 DUI that is seasoned (5+ years) and you shouldn't have a problem finding a trucking job. 2 DUI's and you should think of a different career as you won't get hired by anyone. While your MVR might look ok, DUI's are misdemeanors/felonies in most states and will pop up on the criminal background check forever. DAC has an easy process to do these checks.
