LOL....I'm so lazy that if you were to give me money, you'd have to roll me over and put it in my pocket for me.That's why ol' Big Daddy Loveguns here likes them Super 10s...it is![]()
How many gears do you really need?

You need Volume IV from Long Road Productions. Search for it.

I have a "super 18" top 2 in the truck now. it shifts from 8th direct to 8th over like the super 10 top 2. Splitting the bottom has come in handy in L.A. traffic a couple of times but other than that I don't use them. If I ever get drunk enough to buy another truck, it will have a 5&4 in it !

i wish i another gear in my 10 sp, particularly between 7th and 8th. 10-9 is close together, 9-8 are relatively close, but going from 8-7 sucks, because if you don't let it lug down to 1000RPM it hits 1500 when you go to 7. then 2 seconds later you are at 1700 and have to shift AGAIN
-
Hardly ever. I like an 18 over a 13 because you don't have to shift back into direct to go to the low side. -
Excellent point DH.

Obviously your 15 years of experience has paid off in knowledge.

I'd be willing to getcha drunk for a second seat ride, Driver.

My authority is 15 years old, I have a few more years than that. LOL -
I'll take a 13 every time. Currently I've never done heavy haul to need an 18.
What amazes me is the folks that hate on a 13, 15 or 18 and have never drove one. Usually the CDL mill wonders. -
And it shows, amigo.

An 18-speed might be required for heavy haul, but the point DieselHound brought up is a nice feature to have at a driver's finger-tips.
And, as an added bonus, if y'all actually enjoy shifting -- like I do -- it's hard to beat the added convenience of the additional option an 18-speed provides.
I've noticed that too, Brickman ---- but, those sw holders get all cornfused with only 9-gears to figure out. Add five more gears -- or double that nine to 18 -- and they're lost somewhere betwixt shipping and receiving.

Shux Howdy!
I doubt they're even aware of that "hidden" gear in a 9-speed, making it 10.
Cornering Gear, they call it.
