But this probably isn't normal or average, we are going through a hot spell. For example, 2 weeks ago, I got 3 ltl's that paid as full loads going to SA / Oaklahoma, and last week I got a load that paid a bunch of detention going to panhandle and I did 2 local runs today before I left for Dallas and I have to hussle back to get a 2nd load coming here tomorrow.
I'm running 2 different trailers supporting our equipment rental customers and a step deck servicing crane customers.
How many loads a week are you guys averaging?

Yea that sucks...they want extra freight moved, but don't want to pay any extra smh.

I only average 1-2 loads a week, closer to one.

When I run around Houston I do around 10 a week sometimes more most the time less...loading times around Houston kick my rear.
I've been getting lots of calls on stuff going 100 miles around Houston most been paying $550 but seems them loads take all day, most guys I talk to said they drop first thing in the morning than head back to reload for the next day and home by 3pm after getting loaded.
What kind of money y'all grossing running local Houston stuff most them short 10-20 mile runs are not paying but $250-$275 -
$250-$275 seems average out here, but like you said the loading times are terrible. Not worth it in my opinion. I had a few loads running up to Buffalo paying $600, pretty good run.

I honestly haven't been paying attention to how much my shorter runs have been paying. I double check that I get paid for every load and I check how much I got for each load but I've been doing a lot of rollback truck loads on my landoll during down times to keep busy, so I'm not sure what our rates our for 10 mile range.
I know in our rollback truck, we go as lower than $150 for less than 10 miles for our main customer. But because of weight, anything put on a landoll, generally should pay $250 for even 10 miles because of well weight.
Sounds like you guys have issues with loading times, if I go pick something up, I expect the machine to be ready and I load and go. If I'm held up, I charge detention time. I don't like getting paid detention time but I always make sure to charge it. The other problem is traffic.
Houston has enough routes that there are always alternate routes. If you are doing local work, saving time adds up, your not doing long haul, you can't afford to waste half hour in traffic. I use multiple GPS's to recalcuate traffic while my main gps routes me. I also never stop, I bring enough water / food and I use restrooms and customers. Local work is about hussling and being quick. Finding a balance between developing relationships with customers so they help you and NOT talking or visiting so you can load and go. -
5-7 less than 200 miles 3-6 regional 300-700 miles 2-3 1000 miles plus AVG.
OD 1 a week long distance, 2 less than 600 miles, we never do local unless its here at home
Traffic and loading time is what kills local runs.
Now we are doing some power only for UPS, not bad 2,000 miles make $3,900 a week if you could squeeze a short run add another 1k to your pay check. We got 4 drivers doing this and they are loving it. -
i use to move a lot of that stuff man lifts etc and did $225 a load but would do five a day and not drive more than 120 a day
