I'm picking up a used 2011 T670, D13, 475hp, with about 400k on it. I'm wondering about how long they go before needing an inline or injectors, etc. We run regional, dedicated runs, all highway, medium weight trailers, and we keep up pretty well on the oil changes/PM's, and about 100k each year.
On our Cummins ISX's we've got between 850k and 1mil before having to do one.
thanks
How many miles on a D13 before inline or overhaul?

Well, your question is not very easy . . . .lol
Depend how has been the maintenance in the first 400K, oil changed, fuel filters changed and air filter changed ?
Also base on my own experience i recommand you to check the valve adjustement closely because sometime we saw valve recession problem on exhaust valve (cam side) more often cylinder 5-6.
About the engine in general if the maintenance has been correct it's a good engine with high millage (can be expected.)
For the injectors a 2011 truck is equipped from factory with taper injector with stainless steel injector sleeves, if the part number on the injector start by 214 it's original injector if part number start by 850 or 220 the injector has been updated with the latest number.
Hope this can help. . . .

I would think 800K easy. Some have went over 1mil. Highest I've heard on original D13 was 1.2Mil I think.
Injectors is another story..... -
There is a user on here (can't think of name off hand) who has I think a 2008 volvo with d13, has never opened it up, and is at like 1,450,000 miles. Gets like 8-9 mpg too.

I have a 04 670 with D12. 1.44 mill on her and never opened up. Doesn't use oil or anything. Still get 7-7.5mpg. I have a tripac APU so it doesn't idle much at all. I bought Turk with 500k on it. I wouldn't trade her for anything old or new.

I did replaced the camshaft last year at 1.3 mil miles and injectors twice, but no inframe yet;I posted photos here;.The cam was just worn out, didnt let me down;
still running ok, I don't add any oil in 30k miles intervals;
My dash few min ago ,from Toronto to Waco,Tx, still goes over 8 mpg with 24,000lbs in the box ; not perfect but not bad, next month has 8 years running team, bought it new in June 2007, model 2008; excellent on fuel economy;
but as Ben mentioned above, looks like he knows the motor very well, this are the weaknesses for first generation, injector cups and camshaft.
I wonder if is going to make it to 1.5 mil?! Place your bets! Hahaha
I'll rebuilt it, anyway.I can't afford new truck, this 780 was 134,000cad in 2007, now is over 160,000 with this poor exchange rate.
here is my secret for long life motor, synthetic oil only and my light foamy Crocs shoes on acceleration

From what I've heard from owners and mechanics they put on well over a million miles on theme with just doing injectors and injector cups. Recently seen one for sale here in Toronto with 2.7 million km on it . The seller was saying all he had done was injectors on it.
