I started in 1980 and had my only accident in 1981. I crossed over the interstate and hit another truck head on. I was in a 1972 KW Cab over driving like a maniac like most people do today. My last speeding ticket was in 1998 and I have mostly been OTR. Not sure about the exact miles but I've been in all 48 states and all provinces of Canada and Nova Scotia. In 35 years I have to have 3,000,000 miles.

I have 2.1 million with my present company and I had more than a million when I started. I've never had a chargeable accident and I've never gotten a ticket but I got lots of stories and close calls.

I worked for Refiners/BMI out of Cleveland, Ohio back in the 80's and I cross dumped Diesel into one of the gas grades on the Ohio Turnpike. They gave me a few days off. LOL

Too bad "cubic feet of cargo" doesn't count. Its hard to do a million ( I have ) when you're never less than 14' wide or 15' high.

You have a valid point. I used to run permit loads back in the early 90's for Ohio Northern out of Cleveland, Oh.

I think anyone with any experience in gasoline hauling has cross dump at least once. I know I did. Dumped 4500 gallons of leaded regular into super tank. Had to pump it out. At ARCO my old company they figured a good driver would cross dump once every 5 years. Of course we all tried to beat that and most of us did but complacency would sometimes humble us.
