Aye. Left school at 17 to join the Navy which (long story) turned into joining the Air Force instead. They had me get a GED a year later.

    Keizer Thanks this.

I left home when I was 16. I did get a GED in the army and went to college some years later. You got kicked out of school? A GED will limit you in some cases. Used to be you could join the military without one, but I think now someone posted the army won't accept one now. A HS Diploma is best, but if you can't get that the by all means get a GED. With your age you need to go a step farther and look at college.

Anymore you are just about dead in the water without one. I want to finish mine. If anything just to say I did, plus the older you get the harder it will be find work without one. I look at ads all the time and most require a degree. Most won't be in just one area unless it is a specialized field. Better to have a degree even if you don't know what field you want to pursue. I am at the age where I am starting to think there will be a time when I will not be able to keep up in a labor job if I needed to have a job. A degree would help my chances of getting work as I age.

Used to be you could go to school for trucking and make good money with little time invested compared to going to college. Those days are quickly slipping by the way trucking has been lately. I don't see trucking improving anytime soon. THe economy is catching up with trucking and all the laws are changing that effects the drivers pay check. It is a big gamble and risk if you want to truck and try to make the money that once was out here.

    kickin chicken Thanks this.
