Here's the other important 1 to watch for, what kind of DF cranks the landing gear to max height?![]()
How many of you have dropped a trailer?

Yeah... third day into the new career. I had been pulling transfer dumps and moving equipment... pintle hitches are easy to check. Skanky old reefer with semi stripped landing gear. Boss called the wrecker and never said a word to me. Knew he was hiring a squid I guess.
Half a million in a soft side since, no issues.Dale thompson, Labrador and farmerjohn64 Thank this. -

I dropped a loaded trailer about 20 years ago at 6031 Raymond NH as I rushed to pull it from the loaded line to get out of somebody's way. My habit is to tug on the connection before pulling out, I skipped this important step. I still have no idea why I wasn't hooked because I always tug after the initial hook before getting out and hooking the lines and cranking the gear. Don't rush, don't get distracted. One time in 35 years but I could do it again tomorrow, last lesson don't get complacent.
Labrador, tommymonza and spindrift Thank this. -
Best or worst dropped trailer I've seen was at CRE yard in SLC.
Kid just got his new lease truck, drops the first trailer he goes to pick up, loaded with EA Miller Blue Ribbon Beef.
Fuel tank snaps off.
Then this FINE looking little blonde cowgirl comes out and just chews his poor ### right down to the ground.
It was her trailer. She dropped it to go into the shop.
They tried lifting it with slings and two forklifts, but that just started cutting the trailer in two.
The HUGE MANATEE was real.Labrador, Dale thompson and Kyle G. Thank this. -
Most tragic dropped trailer was at Sprouts DC in Phoenix.
The guy doing yard doggie was the most lovable big old dude from Pennsylvania you would ever meet.
Schneider is their mega that does the local stuff.
They had this FLD with a hydraulic 5th wheel that was like the first one Freightliner ever made. It was the hugest POS in the history of trucking.
The afternoon he dropped it, I was talking to him, and he said he complained what a POS the truck was to the fleet manager, and he was going to go over his head.
Never got the chance.
So they fired him. The FLD went to the smelter, and they got a brand new hostler.
I bumped into him awhile back. He's OTR with a reefer outfit.
This is why Schneider is the best.Labrador, Dale thompson, Kyle G. and 1 other person Thank this. -
